The year 2007 was an eventful one for the Justice, Development and Peace/Caritas Commission all over the country and indeed the nation at large. It was a year of transitions – from the appointment of a new Secretary General for the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria; the appointment of a Director for Church and Society Department in the person of Rev. Fr. Peter Babangida Audu who also doubles as the National Secretary of JDP/Caritas Nigeria; to the employment of a National Coordinator of Projects – Mr. Victor Agbogun to take the place of Mr. Wilfred Okafor.

Considering the transitions that took place in the office at a critical time when preparations were in top gear for the observation of the general elections, there were fears in some quarters about the success of election observation by JDP/Caritas Nigeria. To the glory of God, everything went as planned for the year 2007 and we remain grateful to Him. We hereby acknowledge the cooperation and support of the Catholic Bishops (as a conference) and as individuals we have had to meet for support on one project or the other. The height we have attained would not be possible without their unequalled support. We are grateful to the JDP/Caritas Nigeria structure all over the country for always being there for us as a source of strength – the kind of moral encouragement you give has gone a long way in making us this strong and confident!
